Toronto Wedding PhotographerWelcome to studioEPIC photography, home of professional Toronto Wedding Photographers. We know that choosing a photographer for your wedding (especially in such a large Metropolitan as Toronto) is challenging and often confusing. It is also, one of the most important decisions you will be making in preparation for your special day, and we will try to make the experience as easy as possible. Choosing a wedding photographer is not a simple task. Here are a few ideas to help you along. Reliability - Remember that the most important attribute of a wedding photographer is reliability. After all no matter how beautiful the portfolio, it's no good to you unless the photographer shows up, is punctual and reliable. We often hear horror stories from Toronto and area couples whose photographers are late for the wedding or cancel a few days prior to event due to the fact that they were able to up-sell someone else on a more expensive package. This will never happen with us! Once we commit to shooting your wedding you may rest assured that the photographer will show up, will be on time, and will stay for the agreed upon time. Style - Style of photography is a personal choice, however there are a few guidelines that a photographer has to follow to obtain good quality prints. The photos have to be in focus, with minimal motion blur, and a wide tonal rang. Of course a photographer may choose to blur or motion blur an image, or even under/over expose an image, but that must be intentional. It's usually easy to spot images that were unintentionally blurred, under or over exposed. It's truly amazing how many photographers will have badly exposed, blurred images, even in their portfolios! Watch for those signs to weed out the bad wedding photographers. Technical Aptitude - A lot of wedding photographers focus on the artistic aspect of images, however they lack technical knowledge. Technical knowledge helps the photographer choose the right type of light for the right occasion, choose the right lens, or even the right film speed / ISO. A lot of wedding photographers take the easy way out and always shoot with on camera flash. This, although useful in some situations, often produces flat uninteresting images. We tend to use no flash outside (potentially some fill flash if shooting against a bright background/sun/sky. On camera flash for the church, and off-camera studio strobe lights for the hall/reception. Ask your wedding photographer what kind of lighting equipment they use. This is what will make or break your wedding photographs. Personality - Last but not least. Remember to choose a photographer with a personality style that matches yours. When speaking to larger studios always make sure to find out who will be shooting your wedding. The person you speak to may not always be the one doing your wedding photography. This is important when looking through photographer portfolios, and especially important in Toronto, where there are a lot of multi-photographer studios. We wish you the best of luck on your special wedding day and we hope you choose us! Alice Bil |
